Is an 8% hike good for a software role in India?

Short answer: 8% sits below the 10–20% band many software cycles treat as typical. After a 5.5% inflation check, a lot of that letter is just keeping pace.

The arithmetic

₹10,00,000 to ₹10,80,000 is (80,000 / 10,00,000) × 100 = 8%. Monthly CTC increase is ₹6,667. That is not in-hand.

Real hike at 5.5% inflation is about 2.4%. CTC to keep last year’s buying power is about ₹10,55,000, so an 8% letter clears inflation by a thin margin and still lags a market-range letter.

What to ask

One ask: a revision, a written next-review month, or scope that can earn the next band. The calculator fills a note from your own CTC on this device.
